K Winter Concert 2023
Come join us for a Holiday WINTER Concert performance by our Main Street Elementary School (1st-3rd) grade student-leaders on Thursday evening, December 14th, 2023 @ 7:00 PM @ Shelbyville High School gymnasium. Seating is first come; first serve. All students will be seated with their families in the bleachers to start upon entry to the gym. Once it is close to the beginning of the performance, we will call students by grade-level to make their way to their assigned "spot" on the gym floor. Students will rehearse this & their classroom teacher will be there to assist. Students should leave their coats with their families in the bleachers. Students are also encouraged to wear "holiday concert attire." The performances will be by grade-level beginning with 1st grade, then 2nd grade & finish with 3rd grade. Students may not leave after their performance. Students will be dismissed when a parent gets them from the classroom teacher on the gym floor at the conclusion of the school music performance.

MS WINTER CONCERT 2023
Our Elementary MUSIC Teacher, Patti Tynan, has taught & incorporated the Shelbyville Schools "Fight Song" to ALL Kindergarten students. This is part of their daily routine / EXIT song. Our goal is to develop a sense of Shelbyville RAM PRIDE w/ our students that lasts a lifetime. Our very own Kindergarten students will lead the SHS gymnasium in the Shelbyville Schools "Fight Song" @ the HOME Varsity Boy's Basketball game vs. Windsor/Stew-Stras. We plan for this to take place at approximately 7:10 PM in the SHS gym. Students should arrive @ the game w/ their families & be seated w/ their families by approximately 7:00 PM. The K students will be called to the gym floor a few minutes before the Fight Song. They will be directed to go back to their families after the song. K Students will be on the gym floor facing the NORTH bleachers. Students & families are encouraged to wear PURPLE & WHITE. FREE Admission for ALL Shelbyville Kindergarten students.

The SHS Football TEAM did make the IHSA playoffs w/ round I this Saturday, October 28th @ 1:00 PM @ HOME! On Friday, October 27th, the SHS Football TEAM arrived @ the Kindergarten playground to interact w/ our K-TEAM before school. The vision was for positive role models to model self-control, kindness, communication, etc... & provide positive interactions w/ encouragement. K kids loved throwing a football, showing the players that they can do the monkey bars, getting pushed on the swing, dancing to music, racing players, seeing their jerseys, etc... When the whistle was blown to get k students lined-up, organized, and regulated to enter the school, a SHS Football rep. addressed the K students w/ a few words to pump them up & let them know that what they are learning now in Kindergarten is important. Mrs. Patti Tynan (Music Teacher) then led the K students in the Shelbyville Schools “Fight Song!” Then, the SHS Football TEAM lined-up like a tunnel & high-fived the K students as they traveled in a line to enter the school. I find it interesting that most of these current SHS athletes were once Shelbyville Kindergarten Center students on that very playground. I believe we want our younger kids w/ a vision & goal to be wearing a Shelbyville uniform & modeling the Shelbyville way. This is a good way to start the process of showing them what that looks like. This was a valuable experience for the SHS athletes as well. They are in a position to positively influence & they accepted this role w/ pride.
